Sleeping Lion

Description

This tea is inspired by a blood red brew that was said to put the lion-headed Egyptian godess Sekhmet into a deep sleep. Using Egyptian hibiscus, catnip and hops, this tea recreates the story in tea form. Despite the name, this tea will not make you sleepy but the ingredients are considered to be calming, so perfect before bed.

Sekhmet

In ancient Egyptian mythology, the goddess Sekhmet was sent by Ra to punish humanity for their disobedience. However, her violent rampage threatened to destroy all of humanity, so Ra came up with a plan to stop her. He ordered his priests to take a large quantity of beer and dye it red to make it look like blood. When Sekhmet saw what she thought was a vast pool of blood, she eagerly drank it, became heavily intoxicated and fell fast asleep. Her rampage halted she was able to turn back into the gentle goddess Hathor.
